Who is Mrs. Hill?

Mrs. Hill grew up in Northern Virginia, where she attended the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.  While at TJHSST, she participated in the choral program to the utmost extent as Co-Chair of the Choir Council and co-founder and musical director of the a cappella group, The Sirens.  She was selected for District (2002-2004), All State (2003-2004), and Virginia Honors Choir (2003) during her time at Thomas Jefferson.  Mrs. Hill studied voice with local instructors Jennifer Taillie and Laurie Nelson, under whose guidance she successfully auditioned for the music school at Northwestern University, a slightly unusual career path for a TJ graduate.

Mrs. Hill went on to study Choral Music Education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  While at Northwestern, she studied voice with tenor Richard Drews, 1988 Metropolitan Opera National Council winner.  She spent several years teaching piano and voice to underprivileged students through a university-sponsored program, and continued her education with student teaching placements at Maple School and Neuqua Valley High School, a GRAMMY Signature School.

Following graduation, Mrs. Hill married her high school sweetheart (another TJ choir graduate) and moved to Williamsburg, Virginia.  She directed the choir program at James Blair Middle School before relocating to Northern Virginia in the summer of 2010.  Mrs. Hill was the long-term substitute choral director at West Springfield High School before taking the remainder of the school year off following the birth of her second child.

Mrs. Hill currently lives in Springfield with her husband, Andrew, and two children, John Paul and Cecilia.
