If you enjoy singing and working with others, the Robinson Choral Department is the place for you!

If you are a current Robinson student, be sure to register for CHORUS ensemble during course selection time in the spring. 

Freshman Girls:  All rising 9th grade females will be in Treble Ensemble.  You will have the opportunity to complete a vocal evaluation for an advanced chorus at the end of your 9th grade year.

Any student who is in grades 10-12 should register for CHORUS.  You DO NOT have to audition to sing in Treble Ensemble or Concert Choir.  Anyone who desires to sing and improve is welcome in the choral department.

If you are interested in being considered for either Select Women’s Ensemble (Advanced Women’s) or Robinson Singers (Advanced Mixed Chorus) you should complete an Individual Vocal Evaluation in two parts.

An Individual Vocal Evaluation consists of singing a prepared piece - Shenandoah.  You may record this piece and submit it to Mr. Horanski on a CD.  If you use AUDACITY, please save as an mp3 file and then burn onto a CD through iTunes.  Pick the vocal range you feel most comfortable singing and that will show your best choral sound.  You may sing more than one vocal range on your CD.

The second part is completed in person and consists of a pitch matching exercise, vocal range testing and sight reading.  The evaluation process is designed to measure your vocal and musicianship skills.  You will be placed in an ensemble based on your IVE that matches your skills and stage of vocal development.

Recording your IVE prepared piece on your own gives you the opportunity to submit your best work without the pressure of an “audition.” Mr. Horanski also has a recorder that can be used in the choral room.  You will need to make your recording during RAISE or after school.

IVE’s will take place on May 4, 10, 11, 13.  Please sign up for times beginning on April 26th.

You will be notified if you are needed to attend a call-back audition.

Every ensemble in the choral department strives to achieve the highest level of musical excellence.  You will have the opportunity to expand your musical skills and perform in every ensemble.
