Meet the Director - Michael Horanski

Mr. Horanski joined the music faculty of Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax Virginia as the Director of High School Choral Activities in the fall of 2005.  He directs four high school ensembles. He has also directed a musical production and serves as the vocal director for the spring musical. 


For eight years he served as choral director at Dorseyville Middle School in the Fox Chapel Area School District located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His ensembles have been invited to perform at choral festivals earning superior ratings across the United States and have been invited to be featured performers at the MENC Eastern Division Convention, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the Eastern Division of the American Choral Directors Association. In 2005, he was nominated by the Fox Chapel Area School District for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year and is listed in the Who’s Who Among American Teachers. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Master of Music in Music Education from Duquesne University. While attending Duquesne University, Mr. Horanski performed as a member of the world renowned Duquesne University Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Brady Allred.


Mr. Horanski enjoys an active career as a conductor and soloist. He is the Director of Music at the First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City. He served as a section leader for the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, (Pittsburgh, PA) Chancel Choir for seven years where he was a featured soloist in many oratorio performances and served as the Youth Choir Director for five years. He also served for three years as the Director of Music at Level Green Presbyterian Church in Trafford, PA. He has performed with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh. Mr. Horanski appeared on live television as the music director and conductor of the All-Star High School Choir for the WPXI Channel 11 Carol Sing,for five years and guest conducted PMEA Jr. High Honors Choirs in 2001 and 2006.
